The Vietnam e-visa is an electronic visa issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department that allows foreign nationals to enter Vietnam for tourism, business, or family visits for up to 90 days. It is available to citizens of all countries and territories, can be single or multiple entry, and is applied for entirely online.
Do You Need an E-Visa?

Up to 21 days: Philippines.
Up to 14 days: Brunei.
Phu Quoc Island exception: Visitors of any nationality can enter Phu Quoc Island without a visa or an e-visa for up to 30 days, provided they arrive directly from outside Vietnam by air or sea. If you plan to travel to mainland Vietnam during the same trip, you will need an e-visa or must qualify under the standard exemptions above.

Good to Know
Accuracy is critical: Any mismatch between your e-visa and your passport, including middle names, name order, or passport number, can result in denial of entry. Double-check everything before submitting.
Port of entry: You can enter through any of the 83 eligible ports, not necessarily the one you selected during application. The full list is available here.
Extension: The e-visa generally cannot be extended online. In some cases, extensions can be arranged through a licensed visa agent or local immigration office inside Vietnam. The simplest option is to exit and reapply.
Print your e-visa: Some border checkpoints require a physical A4 printout of your e-visa for verification.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if my application is denied?
The fee is non-refundable, but you can reapply without visiting an embassy. Vietnam Immigration does not always give a reason for denial, but the most common causes are mismatched details and poor-quality document uploads.
Can I enter Vietnam by cruise ship on an e-visa?
Yes, provided the seaport is one of the 83 designated entry points.
I'm only visiting Phu Quoc Island. Do I still need an e-visa?
No. Visitors of any nationality can enter Phu Quoc without a visa or e-visa for up to 30 days, provided they arrive directly from outside Vietnam. If you plan to travel to mainland Vietnam during the same trip, you will need an e-visa or must qualify under the standard exemptions.
Is the e-visa valid from the date I apply or the date I enter?
From the start date you specify during the application. You can enter on any date within the validity period, but must exit before it expires.
Can I extend my e-visa while in Vietnam?
Online extension is not available. In some cases, extensions can be arranged through a licensed visa agent or local immigration office inside Vietnam. The most reliable option is to exit and reapply.
